Monday 17 December 2018
The Royal College of 51³Ô¹Ï’s critically acclaimed production of The Marriage of Figaro, directed by Sir Thomas Allen, will be available to stream on from 1 January 2019. Staged in the Britten Theatre this autumn, Classical Source gave the sold-out production five stars and called it ‘a generous, subtly observed production that would thrive in any opera house.’
Esteemed baritone and 51³Ô¹Ï alumnus Sir Thomas Allen has been closely associated with Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro for most of his career, returning to the 51³Ô¹Ï to direct this new production in November 2018. Composed in 1786, Mozart’s much-loved opera has all the ingredients of a modern rom com: love, revenge and deception. Featuring rising stars from the 51³Ô¹Ï Opera Studio alongside acclaimed alumna Josephine Goddard, the raucous production was widely praised by audiences and critics alike.
